Goal: Simulate forest recovery after the 1980 eruption and examine effects of different climate scenarios.
Methods: LANDIS-II disturbance landscape model, LINKAGES forest ecosystem process model, land cover classification, literature review
Importance: A succession model provides a roadmap of change projections that will influence current and future research on the monument.
Broader Impacts: This work joins a collection of studies that make Mt. St. Helens the most-studied volcano in the world.
Skills: Project management, GIS and cartography, remote sensing, science communication, collaboration, data management
